Personalized Metalsmithing Instruction for Skill Development and Creative Growth

 

EVERY THURSDAY through December 12th, 5:30pm-8:30pm 

Pay per class; select preferred dates:

Thursdays, November 7th, 14th, & 21 th, 28 th; December 5th & 12th 

Tuition: $120 for 3 hours

Supplies: $20+ determined by project & paid in class

Recommended but not required:  Jewelry Making 101, 102, or equivalent sawing, soldering and fabricating experience using non-ferrous metal.

With access to a fully equipped jewelry studio and the guidance of a working goldsmith, this 3-week open studio series offers a unique opportunity to create at your own pace, build new skills, and receive expert support along the way.

LOCATION

All courses are taught at Samonte Cruz Studios in the Ymir Studio, 7012 1st Ave, Ymir, BC V0G 2K0


TUITION & SUPPLIES

Small class sizes ensure individualized instruction. The cost includes course specific supplies, use of workbench, chair or stool, basic hand tools, jeweller’s torch, flex shaft machine, and up to 20 grams of copper or brass for use in the course. Sterling silver and gold are available for purchase from the instructor upon request.


HEALTH & SAFETY

Students must bring the following mandatory personal protection equipment to bring:

  1. Close-toed shoes
  2. N95 mask
  3. Safety glasses
  4. Earplugs or other hearing protection

To protect the health and safety of all students, no outside metal may be soldered or cast in the studio unless purchased directly from Samonte Cruz Studios, a metal manufacturer, reputable jewelry supply company, or the Canadian/US Mint. Even karat-stamped jewelry can contain harmful alloys when heated. Students wishing to use their own metal may book a private class or casting session at the instructor's discretion.
