Hi, I'm Samonte!
I’m an award-winning Filipinx goldsmith and interdisciplinary artist with over 20 years of teaching experience. In 2025, I’m celebrating 10 years dedicated to the art of metalsmithing, and I’m so excited to share this milestone with you!
My journey began in 2015 at the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, BC, where I graduated with honors in 2017. Shortly after, I founded Samonte Cruz Studios, focusing on custom wedding and engagement rings. In 2018, I began teaching jewelry-making courses at Selkirk College and apprenticed with master goldsmith Paul Durkin at Lauener Brothers Jewellery in Trail, BC. This experience helped me refine my craftsmanship while embracing the latest 3D printing technology for precision work.
My goal is to create an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring environment where students can explore their artistic potential. Whether designing your first piece or expanding your skills, I’m here to help you celebrate creativity, resilience, and the joy of artistic exploration.
