Why the Linglingo Matters

Dating back to 500 BCE, the linglingo is one of the oldest surviving heirlooms of Filipino ancestral goldwork. Traditionally worn by the Cordillera peoples of Northern Luzon, this talisman was more than just adornment—it embodied cycles of life, regeneration, and the continuity of culture.

While once thought to symbolize fertility, many today see the linglingo as a powerful emblem of balance, wholeness, and duality. Its open-circle form resonates especially deeply with transgender, non-binary, and queer Filipinx folks—those of us living in the in-between, carrying multiple truths, bridging worlds.

Wearing a linglingo is an act of reclamation, resilience, and radical pride.

The Sacred Legacy of Gold

Before colonization, gold was more than wealth—it was spiritual armor. Pre-colonial Filipinos believed gold amplified a person’s inner light, offered protection when worn at the body’s sacred thresholds (like the ears, nose, and mouth), and carried ancestral energy through generations.

Much of that sacred gold was stolen, melted down, or erased from history during centuries of colonization. But the legacy lives on—in memory, in blood, and now, in this ring.

This solid gold Linglingo Septum Ring isn’t just jewelry.
It’s a revival. A connection to ancestors. A shining refusal to be forgotten.

FAQ

How does it open?
This solid gold septum ring is designed to be gently flexible. To open, twist the ends side to side (like opening a spiral), not front to back. This helps maintain the ring’s shape and prevents the gold from weakening over time.

Will this fit me?
To check your fit, measure the inner diameter of a septum ring you already wear. If it’s 10mm or smaller, this ring should work well for you. If you wear a larger size, I recommend placing a custom order so I can make one to your exact specifications.

The True Cost of Ethical Craft

I’m an independent, queer, trans goldsmith crafting every piece by hand — not mass-produced, not outsourced. My pricing reflects real material costs, a living wage for my labor, and a commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing.

I don’t believe in inflated markups or exploitative production — just honest work, priced to support a small artist’s life and craft in a capitalist world that undervalues both.

Please Note:
For hygiene reasons, all body jewelry is final sale. Each septum spike is made to order and will ship within 6–8 weeks. Due to the handcrafted nature of this piece, slight variations in texture are to be expected — your spike will be one of a kind and may differ slightly from the example shown.
