Gold as Ancestral Inheritance
Goldsmithing is more than a craftâitâs a calling deeply rooted in my heritage. The Philippines, home to the worldâs second-largest gold deposit, has a rich history of master goldsmiths dating back thousands of years. Much of this tradition was erased from common knowledge, as countless gold artifacts were stolen and literally melted down to fund Spanish conquests and the oppression of Indigenous peoples. Iâm committed to reviving and honoring our lost legacy through my work.
Pre-colonial Filipinx cultures believed gold carried ancestral energy, serving as protection at the bodyâs sacred thresholdsâthe nose, ears, and eyesâwarding off malevolent spirits and connecting the wearer to the spiritual universe.
Iâm humbled and inspired to continue this ancient legacy, channeling the spirit of my ancestors in every handcrafted piece.
The True Cost of Ethical Craft
Iâm an independent, queer, trans goldsmith crafting every piece by hand â not mass-produced, not outsourced. My pricing reflects real material costs, a living wage for my labor, and a commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing.
I donât believe in inflated markups or exploitative production â just honest work, priced to support a small artistâs life and craft in a capitalist world that undervalues both.
